DAY 4 

Defining Flesh and Spirit

ACTION

  2. Watch Video.
  3. Chapter Two - Read pages 16 - 20 through "To sum up definitions"
  4. Discuss/journal/reflect study below:​ 

Study Guide Questions:

  1. Is walking in the Spirit our choice?  Yes or No?  Explain  (pg. 16)
  2. Carnal is another word for flesh. Give some examples of a carnal person. (pg. 17)
  3. 1 Corinthians 3:6 says someone may plant a seed, another waters, but it's God who gives the increase.  Increase of what? _____________________________ (pg. 17)
  4. A person who walks in the flesh does not seek first the ________________________  ___  __________________ but their own kingdom of self.  (pg.18)
The definition of Spirit is this:  An invisible part of us where the Lord reveals truth to us through our heart. It's different than our soul. The soul is like a processor of these words coming in to our spirit to decide if it want's to keep them or not. (We get into this more later in the book.) But to define spirit... it's a part of you that receives "input" from both God and the Devil. And it's up to the soul to decide what it's going to do with it. Our soul is our mind, will and emotions.And whatever the soul decides is what manifests in our flesh. Question:  What are you manifesting in your flesh? Write down what you see in your body, and then ask the Lord if you are responding to thoughts of Him or of the enemy? Again, this is NOT to bring any under condemnation but to bring a sword to cut away anything that is not of God. But we first have to "see" what is in there.   
  • To sum up these definitions, who is on your mind when you take a step, say a word or think a thought?  Write down your thoughts.

​MEDITATE THROUGHOUT THE DAY:
Psalm 23:3a  -  "He restores my soul."  Meditate on that one line of verse at least five times throughout the day. Ask the Lord to show you how this passage can impact your life.

If you want to go on, you can. But it is a good idea to work through this in small bites to get the fullness. I encourage you to wait until the following day to do the next day. It gives the word time to soak in.
