The Fruit of the Spirit

Study Guide Questions:
- What does the goodness of the Lord bring us to? _____________________ (Romans 2:4) (pg.13)
- Think about how you can apply goodness to your life. The Bible says, Jesus went about doing good. Yet He even said, "Why do you call me good? There is only One that is Good, our Heavenly Father." So where does all goodness come from? _____________________________.
- The next fruit is "faith." Faith is the substance of things hoped for." Let's stop there for a moment. Do you really see what it says here? Without HOPE you cannot have faith. The Bible says to Hope in God.... that's where your faith comes from. Scriptures say that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. So write down how you fit in all this, and how you are to obtain faith, or what have you been doing to obtain faith.
- If we believe everything God has said and promised, we will walk a __________________________ life. (pg. 13)
- Write down some areas where you see you don't have any self- control. And then write down things where you see you have self-discipline/self-control. By seeing what we do have helps us not go fall into condemnation. We have to see how we have grown not just was is left in us to fix! journal/discuss
- What fruit do you see listed you need more of? Remember, don't go after the fruit, go after the fruit giver! Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these "fruits" will be added to you. There is no law against the fruit of love. No law against being humbled. No law against any of the fruit and it becomes WHO we are. Now we are thinking, speaking and acting as God designed for us. Everything we are today we have LEARNED. This study is helping to teach WHO YOU ARE.
Whatever root system you have will grow fruit. We need a sure foundation in the Lord, Who is our root system. Jesus (if you have received Him as Savior) the seed, was planted in our fertile heart (which was made of dirt by the way) to grow and make fruit. Which tree is growing in your heart? You will know by the fruit you walk in. We all have areas to work on. Please do not get condemned because you haven't arrived. Remember, the fruit isn't YOU... the fruit comes from the Lord when you are grounded and rooted in His Love and Nature and Character... the fruit will come and then you'll get to enjoy eating them. MEDITATE THROUGHOUT THE DAY:
Psalm 23:2b - "He leads me beside the still waters." Meditate on that one line of verse at least five times throughout the day. Ask the Lord to show you how this passage can impact your life.
End of Day 3
If you want to go on, you can. But it is a good idea to work through this in small bites to get the fullness. I encourage you to wait until the following day to do the next day. It gives the word time to soak in.
