DiscernmentHebrews 5:14 says the definition of Discernment is knowing the difference between good and evil. You must not only know what is "good" but what is "evil." If you don't know who the enemy is, how can you resist him?
This is a list of some of the Devil's wiles (wiles = ways): Galatians 5:20
(II Corinthians 2:11) Note: If you are not clear of their meaning, just look the word up in the dictionary
Personal Testimony from Linda: I want you to know that everything that is listed above were things I found in me. The night that I learned that "I" was responsible for my life God was able to introduced me to me. I sat down and simply asked Him, "Lord, what sins can I possibly have?" Well, with that it opened the understanding of my heart, and that's when I wrote down these things listed above. Since then, of course, more has been revealed and now I know to take all my sins to the Lord and receive forgiveness. I practice what I preach. The truth never fails. I had to see the truth in my own heart before I could go further. See I had seen all these things in others, so I believed others were to blame for my problems. But of course, I learned that wasn't the case. I could only see in them what I myself had! "Take the beam out of your own eye and then you can see to take the beam out of your brothers." But the truth was, once I got my own beam out, I couldn't see it in my brother - or it wasn't a big deal any more and didn't even have the need to say anything to them. That was the night a flood of teaching came forth, and as a result I created this Website to share with others what God has done in me. I was so self-deceived for over 18 years (as a Christian) and didn't know that I had the keys to unlock my cage. Prayer for you: "Father, I pray for this individual reading through this web site. They are searching, but what they are searching for is an intimate relationship with you. By recognizing the things in us that prevent that, we are "doing" the Word. I ask you for you to help them see the truth in their own lives and what is in their heart that does not belong to you! Help them look at each area fully and not fear what they see or feel bad or guilty for what is there. But to rejoice that they see it because it's the beginning of their freedom from it. I ask for your infinite mercy to flood their hearts right now and that no matter what is there, they remember that all their sins have been forgiven over 2000 years ago and to just receive what Jesus did on the cross for them. All guilt and shame removed from them, and they can enjoy you even more. It's not that all our sins are gone it's that all our sins are forgiven and covered! We give you permission to reveal these things in our heart but most of all reveal your Son in our lives focusing on what He's done so that all these things we see in us and around us won't burden us or overwhelm us. I pray these things in Jesus name, Amen." Remember: Take some time to meditate on the Word. Open your Bible and find a passage of scripture and allow your mind to dwell on it for some time. As you do this, you are becoming more acquainted with God and His love, dwelling on things above not on things on the earth, not even on your own sins. We are to "know" these things within us but not dwell on them. We are to "dwell" on God and those things that are of a good report. Yes, we are to discern things, but who we trust in is where we will spend most of our time. Let it be things of God. |
