Teleconference Classes - Fearless Living

We have embarked on exciting time of teaching, ministry and fellowship, called "Fearless Living." A teaching to help every individual live today in trying times, yet, not fall apart! It addresses phobia type fears, fear that you wouldn't even suspect to be fear, relationships and how that impacts you, and much much more. The main focus is to get us to a place of truly believing God and His love, because that is what casts out fear. These sessions takes us on a journey to learning how to do that.

You can also be a part of it because we are recording each session and making them available on the website! Just go to the "Audio" teachings link, and you will find them there. We are on chapter four, so the teachings are still in progress, but are uploaded each Saturday. If you want to participate in the next teleconference class, please call the LAM office or email us today.

Conquer your thoughts!

I think that this is one of the main problems in our lives today as Christians, unable to really get our thoughts in line with the Word of God. What I mean, is to think of only things that are above, and stop thinking of all the junk around us. That is where our problems start! And that's where we need to fight the battle, in our minds.

Just recently I had thoughts that were tormenting me. How do i know they are tormenting thoughts? Because I would replay them over and over and wonder what to do about what I was thinking. Let me share a story. I have a friend that I visited with about a month ago. Well, I called her and called her, but she wouldn't call back. And when she did and we made plans to meet, she would call and cancel. So my thoughts began wondering. "Did I do something wrong?" "Did I offend her?" "Have I lost her as my friend?" And they flooded my mind EVERY DAY for a month! I would think of her and go through forgiving her. I would forgive myself, ask the Lord to help me release all these thoughts, and to even let her go as a friend, if that is her choice. But for some reason, the thoughts would still return, tormenting me day after day.

Then just a few days ago, I got my peace! I was reading scripture, and watched a preacher on TV, and even watched "touch by an Angel" episode, and all those things worked together for God to answer my prayer about this friend. Sometimes I have a "hard head" and God sometimes has to use many things to get me to see past my own thoughts into His! And this was one of those times. James 3:17 says that "Wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisity." Hebrews 13:5 "Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

The Lord used these two passages to show me that it was what I was allowing in my thinking that was tormenting me. And the reason it wouldn't go away, is that I was listening to lies! I know this to be true because when I finally caught up with my girlfriend, that's not what was happening at all. She was on vacation, had out of town guests, etc., etc., and wasn't available to visit at that time. We had a great visit and all my tormenting thoughts left! God showed me that all those thoughts were lies that is why I couldn't get free. I kept thinking she was mad at me - a lie. I kept thinking I did something wrong - a lie. I kept thinking she didn't want to be my friend any more - a lie! So I was trying to deliver myself from lies, and you can't! You have to believe truth, period! And I wasn't believing truth, because I didn't know the truth. The truth was she was busy! The truth I believed was that I offended her in some way and she wanted nothing to do with me. The Lord is really digging deep in my heart and life to show me that any thought that does NOT produce peace, is not from Him. And to choose to "meditate" on the truth, not on lies.

Now if I did do something wrong, and I repent for offending, etc., based on a "truth" of what I did, then I get immediate release and peace without guilt or condemnation, and I'm not tormented by that thought! But now I know that IF I repent, and I'm still tormented, I need to stop and realize that I may be trying to get delivered from a lie. So right there I need to confess this to the Lord - because we can be deceived at times - and trust Him.

So, once I learned that my own thoughts I meditate on torment me, I have changed that practice. And it is practice, it takes practice to "think" properly! I got to test this out and apply what I just shared with you. I began thinking of another friend! And as the thoughts came up that she didn't want to be my friend any more, or only call when she needs something, I took that thought and said, "Whether it's true or not, I choose not to think of her in the negative. I choose to think only good of her." Because I was very suspicious of her and not trusting her much. Well, those thoughts DO NOT come from God! Yes, there are times when we need to investigate if the person we are in fellowship is a true believer, but we are NOT to think evil of ANY MAN! When we do, we are judging them, and there is no judge but God. James 4:11-12 - another passage that has got me through this stuff says "Speak not evil of another, brethren. He that speaks evil of his brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of th law. There is only one law and one law giver. (And it ain't me!). Who am I that would judge another?? So, instead of speaking in my head about that person in the negative, I choose to think of them in the positive. So I turned that thinking around and began thinking of good things about that person.

Another incident happened where I went to see my sister-in-law. And I just "know" she doesn't like me. Hmm... I see a pattern here. So I went to her with a different thought process. I said, "I don't care if she likes me or not, I love her and want to be her friend." Instead of going to see her "thinking" she doesn't like me. And boy, what a difference it made. God wants us to think good of all men, it actually improves our relations with people. Because, since we are warring in the spirit, we don't wrestle with flesh and blood... we need to love and forgive all men, no matter what! Keeping our thoughts on what is of a good report! What is true. Honest, lovely, etc. about that person! And, not to mention, about ourselves!

What do we think about ourselves? is what you think bring you peace? We need to take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) and deal with it right then and there. If you are still tormented after repenting, then you may be believing a lie.

Princess and "what is your pea?"

Do you know the story, "The Princess and the Pea?" If not, you can actually go to www.youtube.com and find it there. Liza Minelli does a play about it, and it's really cute. Well, the reason I'm bringing this up is that about a month ago I went on a women's retreat where I shared the room with 3 other ladies. Well, I didn't know they were going to snore, so the next night I went to town and got a room for the night. Later my friend told me that, behind my back, I was called the "Princes and the pea." Not really knowing what that meant, not thinking it was a compliment, I researched it. It's about a princess who slept on 20 mattresses, and under the bottom mattress was a pea. When she woke up in the morning, she said she felt like she slept on a big boulder all night! This meant she was a "real" princess, because only "real" princesses are "sensitive" as that! Well, I could take this as a compliment that I'm a "real" Princess, or take it in the negative that I'm too sensitive! Well, I took it both ways, and went to the Lord. Yes, I do realize I have "my way" of doing things for comfort, and so I knew that was true. I also know that I am a "real" princess in God's Kingdom. Instead of thinking negative (just as I taught above) I thought positive. I forgave the ladies, and was even able to laugh about it, because it was true! Can't deny the truth or get mad at others for observing the truth.

So, I say all that to ask you... what is your pea? Who irritates you? What is bothering you? What makes you uncomfortable? I had to confess that I was too sensitive. The other day, a friend told me I was high maintenance! Yikes! All I did was order another muffin and some more salad dressing at lunch! But, in that, I forgave her and realized that I do require attention at times. If it's wrong, then I ask God to deal with my heart about it, but not to be condemned either! See, we all have to go through things, even me, who has been teaching this stuff for over 13 years! I'm not exempt from purgings! When we think we are clean, we need to realize we need to become even cleaner. No one has arrived, there is always something to get "worked out" of us, or into us, whatever the case may be. Because not only do we get purged, but it has to be replaced with truth, love, and God's nature and character.

So, are you sensitive? Are you high maintenance? Is everything about you? That is your pea! Take your pea to the Lord and ask Him to help you be content in everything, and if you need to forgive yourself, others, etc., then do so. But don't fall under any guilt or condemnation, only believe you are righteous right now. (For more information on guilt and condmenation, read through the teachings on the website called "Guilt and Condemnation.)

Tom's Tidbits:

I was ministering to someone who asked the question, "How do you "abide" in Christ?" I began sharing how to do this by focusing on Jesus more during the day. Including Him in all our ways. Acknowledging Him in everything we do. Read the Word, love people, forgive people, etc. And then later that evening I thought, "let me ask Tom what he thinks." So I asked him. He said, "There is no how... there just is." He is absolutely right. We are already "in" Him when we are "in" Christ. We just need to take the time to see it every single minute of the day. God is everywhere, so wherever we go, whatever we do, he is there. We can choose to abide or not! Just by our own thinking. Again, a one liner that says it all!

Until Next Time... Be filled with the peace that passes all understanding. But we can only be filled with that peace when we truly KNOW the peace giver!
